The Pacific Rim Research Program is a multicampus program established to encourage Pacific Rim research on the ten University of California campuses. It sponsors a competitive grants program that provides funds for University of California faculty and graduate students who do research on Pacific Rim topics in a variety of disciplines. Grants are available in the following categories. Faculty: Minigrants, Research Grants, Workshop and Planning Grants, Faculty Development Grants. Students: Minigrants, Research Grants.
Before beginning your application please ensure your eligibility. See call for Proposal at http://www.ucop.edu/research/pacrim.
Using the Application System
- Log in at left (first as a new user).
- You may save your work and revisit your application as many times as you wish until the application deadline.
- When you have completed your application, be sure to "sign" it and click the "Finish" button.
- Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
What You Will Need*
- Abstract
- Narrative project proposal
- Detailed budget in table form
- Budget narrative (2 pg maximum)
- Résumé or curriculum vitae (CV) and those of any collaborators (2 pg maximum each)
- Names and email addresses of up to 3 people who will write letters of recommendation (students) (see below)
- Various other brief descriptions of timeline, mentoring aspects, etc.
*Not all materials are required for all grant categories. Please see Call for Proposal for details.

Letters of Recommendation
- Due at application deadline
- If appropriate, one letter should be from your primary faculty adviser.
- Other letter(s) should ideally be from experts in fields related to your project who are familiar with your project and can attest to its significance.
- Be sure to notify your references before entering their information in the application system. They will receive an auto-generated email with instructions for submitting letters of recommendation immedia tely after you have entered their information in application system.
